Holiday Cottage, situated in the attractive North Yorkshire village of

house but enjoys complete privacy, having its own south-facing terrace

garage and a couple of pubs serving food. The village is situated on the
edge of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty,
but is
just 12 miles from the historic walled city of York. The charming towns
of Easingwold and Helmsley are nearby and hold weekly markets. There
are also
some excellent pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages. Thirsk
is also worth a visit to see the former surgery of James Herriott,
famous vet
and author -‘The World of James Herriot’.
 boasts many quaint fishing villages - Whitby,
Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay providing excellent walking possibilities on
the windswept North Yorkshire Moors. Alternatively, the famous Moors Steam
Railway based at Pickering might be a more relaxed way to take in the
view. The area also benefits from many delightful English Heritage and
National Trust sites, for example Beningborough Hall, Nunnington Hall,
Newby Hall, Fountains Abbey, not forgetting Castle Howard, famous for the
classic ‘Brideshead Revisited’. Sport is also well catered for with golf,
